Privacy & Data Protection

What this site keeps, why, for how long, and the rights you have over it, in plain words. This is the privacy notice required by Article 10 of Türkiye’s Personal Data Protection Law No. 6698 (KVKK).

This notice covers visitors to this site and anyone who contacts me through the form, by email or on WhatsApp.

02What is processed?

Contact form

Your name, email address, the services you pick, a start date if you choose to give one, your message and anything you share in it.

Email and WhatsApp

If you write to me directly: your name, email address or phone number, and the content of our conversation.

Server logs

Technical records the hosting provider keeps automatically for security when a page loads: IP address, browser details, the page requested and when.

Visit statistics

Which pages were opened, where the visit came from, country and city, device type, operating system and browser. No cookies are used; the value used to tell visits apart is deleted after 24 hours, and I only see totals.

I don’t need special categories of data such as health information; please don’t include them in your messages.

03Why? Legal basis

Your details are used only for the purposes below, each on the legal basis shown next to it. None of them relies on your explicit consent, which is why the form has no consent checkbox.

Your details are not used for marketing, newsletters or advertising.

04How is it collected?

Everything is collected electronically: from you, when you fill in the form or write to me by email or WhatsApp; and automatically, for server logs and visit statistics, when you open the site.

05Who receives it?

Your details are shared only with the service providers needed to do the work, and only as far as needed:

Some of these providers store data outside Türkiye, so this counts as a cross-border transfer. These transfers rely on the safeguards in Article 9 of the KVKK, namely the standard contracts published by the Personal Data Protection Board.

06How long is it kept?

  • Messages that don’t lead to a project: up to 1 year after the last message, then deleted.
  • Projects we work on together: contracts, invoices and correspondence are kept for the periods required by the Turkish Commercial Code and Tax Procedure Law.
  • Server logs: for the short period the hosting provider keeps them for security.
  • Visit statistics: the value that tells visits apart is deleted after 24 hours; only totals that can’t be linked to anyone remain.

Once a period ends, the data is deleted or made impossible to link to anyone.

07Cookies and browser storage

This site uses no cookies, which is why there is no cookie banner. Only the small preferences below are kept in your browser so the site works as expected. They are never sent to me or anyone else and are not used to track you.

You can clear them from your browser settings at any time; the site then opens with the default theme in Turkish. Visitors get no cookies; a session cookie is used only for the site owner’s sign-in to the panel at /admin. Fonts are also served from this site’s own server, so no request goes to a third party.

Clicking the Instagram, LinkedIn, Behance or WhatsApp links takes you to those services, where their own privacy policies apply.

08Your rights

Under Article 11 of the KVKK you have the right to:

  1. Find out whether your personal data is processed
  2. Request information about it if it is
  3. Learn the purpose of processing and whether it is used accordingly
  4. Know the third parties it is transferred to in Türkiye or abroad
  5. Ask for it to be corrected if it is incomplete or wrong
  6. Ask for it to be deleted or destroyed under the conditions in Article 7 of the KVKK
  7. Ask for corrections or deletions to be passed on to the third parties it was transferred to
  8. Object to a result against you that arises solely from automated analysis
  9. Claim compensation if you suffer damage from unlawful processing

How to apply

Email iletisim.metehangokay@gmail.com with enough information to verify who you are (full name; Turkish ID number if you are a Turkish citizen, otherwise nationality and passport number) and a clear description of your request.

I will reply free of charge within 30 days at the latest. If you find the reply insufficient or don’t receive one in time, you can lodge a complaint with the Personal Data Protection Board.

09Copyright and use of content

The project images, logos and brand names in the portfolio belong to their respective brands and appear only to show my work. They may not be copied, reproduced or used for any other purpose without permission.

The site’s design, copy and blog posts are mine. You’re welcome to quote short passages with credit and a link.

If you own the rights to an image and want it removed, just send me an email.

10Changes to this notice

I update this notice when I start using a new service or when the law changes. The current version is always on this page, with the date of the last update at the top.
